Calculate your review goal

Use the rating and review count shown on your Google Business Profile.

Example: 4.2 out of 5

4.7 ★
Target ratings below 5.0 can be estimated; reaching a perfect 5.0 from a lower rating is not mathematically possible with a finite number of reviews.

How does the Google review rating calculator work?

Google review ratings reflect an average of individual star ratings. This calculator estimates how many additional 5-star reviews would be needed to reach a chosen average, assuming your current displayed rating is the exact underlying average and all existing reviews remain unchanged.

The formula is new reviews = ceiling(existing reviews × (target rating − current rating) ÷ (5 − target rating)). We round up to the next whole review because you cannot receive a fraction of a review.

Example: How many 5-star reviews to go from 4.2 to 4.7?

If you have 50 reviews at an exact average of 4.2 stars, reaching an average of at least 4.7 would require an estimated 84 additional 5-star reviews. Your total review count would rise to 134.

Important: Google displays rounded ratings, so your actual underlying average may differ. The number of reviews needed may therefore be higher or lower.

How many Google reviews do you need for a 5-star rating?

If your business has received any reviews below 5 stars, no finite number of additional 5-star reviews can make your exact average equal 5.0. It can get increasingly close. Depending on Google's display rounding, a profile may eventually display 5.0 even when the underlying average is slightly below 5.0; Google controls how ratings appear.

What actually helps a business improve its Google reviews?

A calculator provides a numerical target, not a guarantee. A sustainable approach is to deliver consistently good service, invite all eligible customers to share genuine feedback without incentives or pressure, and respond to reviews professionally. Don't offer rewards for reviews or selectively ask only happy customers.

Google Review Calculator FAQs

Is this Google rating calculator free?

Yes. The calculator is free and shows your numerical result instantly without requiring an account or email address. You can optionally request a more detailed plan by email.

Does this calculator connect to my Google Business Profile?

No. Enter your current rating and review count manually. The calculator does not access your Google account or automatically retrieve reviews.

Why might the actual number of reviews needed be different?

Google displays rounded ratings. Your profile's exact underlying average is not available from the displayed one-decimal score, and new reviews may have different star ratings. Treat this as a planning estimate, not a guaranteed outcome.

Can negative reviews be removed to improve my score?

Businesses cannot simply remove legitimate negative reviews. Reviews that violate Google's policies can be reported for evaluation. Focus on service quality, professional responses and authentic review requests.

How long will it take to reach my target rating?

That depends on how many customers you serve, how often customers choose to leave reviews and what ratings they give. This calculator estimates a review count, not a timeline or a guaranteed future rating.
